A shame-free introduction to puberty, consent & reproduction

Welcome to Body Chats!

Body Chats is a shame free introduction to puberty, consent & reproduction. Created for students in Years 5 & 6 and delivered as an age appropriate curriculum, Body Chats covers the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty, a basic overview of the reproductive system and reproductive function as is relevant to puberty, and provides wellbeing strategies to assist students navigating this change. Consent is explored through  discussions about respect for the body, respect for self and respect for others. We also discuss a person's rights and responsibilities when it comes to their bodies and how to create safe boundaries.

Body Chats is delivered by one of our puberty educators as an in-school workshop or as a teacher delivered digital curriculum. Both programs are aligned with the PDHPE syllabus and comprehensively cover the upper-primary puberty content.

Class Raising Hands

Body Chats
The Workshop

Our Body Chats workshop is delivered in-person or online and supports the classroom delivery of the syllabus content. This program allows your students to have conversations with an experienced puberty educator, facilitating conversations they may not be comfortable asking in their usual classroom setting. Our workshop includes whole class activities â€‹and single-sex Q&As to allow students a safe space to ask questions. This workshop fits well into both secular and religious school communities. As experienced educators we understand the complexity of this subject matter, and as such, approach our delivery with respect for the traditions and beliefs of each school.

About us

Body Chats is delivered by the founder & lead educator, Sarah Alderton. Sarah is a classroom teacher, Primary PDHPE and wellbeing specialist. She has over 10 years experience teaching primary & secondary PDHPE & Dance, and holds a

Masters of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Melbourne.

Sarah is an in-demand speaker, presenting at conferences across the country and for Generation Next, the National Education Summit, ACHPER & SWSLHD. Sarah has a passion for making wellbeing education practical and works in partnership with schools to make a positive impact on the lives of both students and staff.

I created this program because I want this time of change to be a positive one for our young people. This subject doesn't have to be awkward or uncomfortable for our students. I have seen students transform from scared about the day to completely in awe of their changing bodies and far more confident about what is ahead of them. Knowledge and understanding is empowering and in order to support our young people through this time of change, we need to deliver that knowledge in a safe, open, and shame-free way.
